Reviews
Great place for sushi with reasonable prices. Staffs are so nice and friendly. Especially the dragon roll (unagi and prawn tempura inside), the portion is big and they give a large portion of unagi per piece.
The day I went there was uni, the quality was amazing and the price was suitable considering in the UK.
I am not too sure why one specific waitress seems to be so in a rush to the point she starts to take away the plates and the bowls without my families finishing. We still have a couple of sushi left in the plates but she just seem to not care. Oh, not to mention, I had hair in the first sushi plates served :). Can't really say I enjoy the atmosphere of them rushing us out, have been a regular visitor to this place but I have to say I was not really happy of what happened tonight.
Amazing food and great service.
Food portions were big and each of the dishes I had were very nice.
Staff were very accommodating, attentive and quick.
Seating and table space was a bit small for larger groups, but manageable.
Lovely place great food great service, nice and soothing atmosphere. The menu has vegetarian options.
Everything we tried was excellent.
I had the best takoyaki so far comparable to the ones I tried when I was in Japan.
Highly recommend!
Book in advance !
I was really, really disappointed in the dinner I ordered from KamPai Kensington tonight. It was on the expensive side, but I was happy to splurge for a really nice meal, but instead came away feeling, quite frankly, like I had fallen for some sort of scam.
The Shishito (pardon) peppers, which were accompanied on the Deliveroo menu by a picture of a lovely little pile of green peppers, were four in number and attempted to make up for their numbers through sheer size. This presumably accounts for the fact that they were so undercooked that they were still crunchy. There was little to no salt, which we added ourselves, but it felt typical of the lack of care that seemed to characterise the preparation of the dishes we were delivered. Although there was no salt, there was a fifth pepper stalk.
The salmon tataki had not been seared, and is so obviously entirely uncooked that I at first assumed I had been sent the salmon sashimi. The slices were so thin that one of them was literally see-through, and the slicing had been absolutely botched; all slices were of uneven thickness and the sides on three were jagged. It arrived covered by sesame seeds and scallion, like the buried evidence of some terrible crime.
The makimono was not as objectionable, but the salmon in the makimoto was slightly slimy and quite soft, and didn’t at all have the firmness and bounce of fresh, high-quality salmon. There were only two prawn tempura. The crispy cucumber in the Wakame Kyuri Su was soft and slimy. The Atsu yaki was alright, but not more. The scallop sashimi was the only saving grace out of the eight items we ordered, and was genuinely nice. The scallops tasted fresh, and the flavour was delicate.
But out of the eight items bought only the scallop sashimi was finished, and overall, this is the second-worst sushi I have ever had, and it only loses the race to the bottom because the worst one actually gave us food poisoning.
This has quickly become my favourite go to place for fresh delicious sushi. After my first visit, I found myself craving for more so returned on the same week. You just know when the fish is fresh and handled with care and expertise. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly. Looking forward to trying their special rolls and other items on the menu.
Tucked away amidst the architectural tapestry of Olympia, Kensington, and a hop from the verdant Holland Park, lies a sushi spot that defies local culinary conventions. Historically, this lush pocket of London might have garnered a reputation for overpriced, middle-of-the-road dining, but this establishment dares to be different.
Upon entry, the wafting allure of impeccably prepared sushi tantalises the senses. The standard here is sublime: each morsel boasting of exceptional freshness and craftsmanship. While the food commands attention, the warmth exuded by the amiable staff wraps around you like a comforting blanket. It's not merely about food here; it's a holistic dining experience.
The pièce de résistance? The pricing. Offering top-tier sushi without the Holland Park price tag, it's a delightful culinary contradiction that Londoners will savour. Whether you're plotting a laid-back lunch or looking to impress on a romantic rendezvous, this gem shines brightly.
Recommended by a friend nearby, the place is awesome indeed.
Friendly, speedy, and tasty. My salad had been waiting for me when I finished washing my hands, and my chirashi don was ready soon after.
The sashimi are fresh and plump, the tamago yaki was incredibly soft, and the rice was well-cooked with a subtle hint of vinegar.
Really enjoyable to be at the sushi bar and watch the chefs :> Looking forward to coming back again.
